Kepware Server 7.0: What Changed in the New Release Line?

The Kepware product family passed an important milestone at the end of 2025: the KEPServerEX name was retired and the product continues as Kepware Server 7.0. Around the same time, Kepware moved from PTC to a new industrial software company, Velotic.

What Is in the 7.0 Release Line?

The 7.0 line unifies the KEPServerEX and ThingWorx Kepware Server brands into one product. Highlights from the official release notes:

  • Windows Server 2025 support,
  • 2048-bit certificates (stronger TLS/certificate configurations),
  • New installation and migration options,
  • End of support for legacy 5.x versions: use the official Migration Guide to upgrade.

Spring 2026 Release

The June 2026 release brought new features to three products:

  • Kepware Edge: new OPC UA Client, Siemens S7 Plus and Mitsubishi Ethernet drivers plus a new integrated user experience.
  • Kepware Server: the Siemens S7 Plus driver now supports redundancy with automatic failover between primary and secondary CPUs.
  • Kepware+ Manager: centralized user and security configuration for multi-installation setups.

What Is the Difference from Its Predecessor?

Documents and third-party content that still use the old name are common, but the current product name is Kepware Server and the brand is Velotic. Architecturally the same lineage, the product keeps delivering connectivity from field controllers to enterprise systems on one platform.
